John Sanchez

President

Experience: Prior to joining Green Career Institute, LLC, John was founder and CEO for a specialty legal staffing company (www.blackletterdiscovery.com). He also founded a leading professional test preparation company (www.bargraders.com) that has helped students from almost every law school in the country prepare for the California Bar Exam.


 

Francisco Machuca, PhD

Dean of Curriculum

Dr. Machuca is an executive vice president, active technical scientist, and advisor on "critical path" issues, products & services that are core enabling technologies supporting the growth of the Solar, SEMI, Petrochemical, and Bio-Pharma Industries globally. Actively expanding knowledge through: GCI for technical training & setting global standards, Coneybeare for solar workforce placement strategies, Orion Metrology for fast “on the fly” solar measurement techniques, and Jetalon Solutions for “point of use” fluid metrology.


Dr. Francisco Machuca is presently the EVP of Jetalon Solutions and Chief Technical Officer of Orion Metrology. Dr. Machuca was the principle instructional designer of a 40 hour technical curriculum in Solar PV technology, PV system installation, solar design, and estimating\sizing systems for GCI.


Dr. Machuca received his BS in mathematics and physics from the University of California, Berkeley and his MS and PhD in electrical engineering, with a focus on semiconductor device physics, material science & processing, surface science metrology, and laser & charged particle optics, from Stanford University.


Dr. Machuca has over 18 years experience in R&D and held notable research and engineering positions at Applied Materials and KLA-Tencor, where he developed high-speed inspection equipment and maskless, multi-E-beam lithography tools. More recently, he was the chief scientist at a solar technology start up, where he created IP and trade secrets for improving efficiencies of large scale solar paneling and novel solar cell fabrication techniques.

Nicholas Carter, PhD

Dr. Carter has a PhD in Physics and Music from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. Dr. Carter is a NABCEP-certified PV installer whose experience encompasses both business development and leadership in industrial groups and organizations. His work experience includes founding NPC Solar, NPC Imaging, organizing the 2005 Santa Rosa Solar Homes Tour, undertaking the role of president of the North Bay Chapter of the Electric Auto Association from 2002 to 2007, and serving on the National Board of the Electric Auto Association from 2004 to 2006. He has designed numerous PV installations in and around Sonoma and Marin Counties under his own lead with NPC Solar and in conjunction with Affinity Energy, North Bay Solar Electric, Harmony Farm Supply and Solar Depot. An example of Dr. Carter's work is the solar patio cover for the Rose residence in Kenwood, which was featured on the 2007 Build It Green tour and scored in excess of 200 points on the Build It Green rating scale.

Dr. Carter currently drives a Solectria Force EV and has driven freeway-capable electric vehicles since December 2001. He campaigns tirelessly for renewable energy and clean transportation, including being a part of the fight which stopped the Th!nk City electric cars from being destroyed, as portrayed in the movie "Who Killed the Electric Car?"

Randy Cramm
Neway Packaging Corporation

Director of Sustainable Packaging Solutions / National Sales Manager


Randy Cramm is the Director of Sustainable Packaging Solutions and National Sales Manager for Neway Packaging Corporation. From 1987-1997 Randy worked as a sales consultant, receiving top sales honors each year. In 1997 he was promoted to National Sales Manager. With his 23 years of field experience in packaging equipment and supplies, Randy has developed hundreds of relationships with companies representing a wide array of different industries. He has successfully worked with them to meet their goals of creating the most cost effective and efficient packaging solutions. With a growing focus on the environmental impact of packaging, he is dedicated to the success and implementation of green sustainable solutions for the marketplace. He believes it is a movement that is gaining a lot of momentum with the help of many major retailers demanding their supply chain to meet certain environmental criteria. Randy’s ultimate goal is to produce earth friendly solutions that drive costs out of operations in order to keep companies competitive in today’s business environment. One of his objectives is to squash the perception that green is expensive. Randy believes this can be accomplished through, innovative products, strategic partnerships and focused training and education in the marketplace.


Chuck Griffin
American International School

Principal


Chuck Griffin has been in education for over 20 years. He attained his BA from Trent University and his Education degree from Brandon University in Canada. Chuck taught for 5 years in Canada before moving to Hong Kong where he has been involved in the International school system for the past 15 years. Presently Chuck is the middle school principal at the American International School of Hong Kong a post he has held for the past 5 years. Chuck has worked in the Canadian, British and American educational systems and has been involved in curriculum development, the implantation of technology, and green school policies. Chuck has a background in schools conserving energy, recycling, and going green. He has been involved in several schools that have mandated and moved to energy saving and environmentally friendly practices.



Ki Hwang
Black Letter Discovery

President and General Counsel


Ki is President and General Counsel of Black Letter Discovery, a fast-growing document review company, providing temporary legal staffing, project management and offsite review facilities to law firms and corporate legal departments nationwide. At BLD, he is responsible for company-wide business development and managing strategic partnerships and evaluating domestic and international business opportunities and markets. In his dual position as General Counsel, he manages BLD's legal issues. Prior to joining BLD, he was the promotional partner at a boutique law firm that represented Fortune 500 companies and international clients. Education: J.D., University of Minnesota Law School; B.A., UCLA. Languages: Korean.



George Mandella
Black Letter Discovery

COO


George is a co-founder and COO of Black Letter Discovery, a nationwide provider of document review solutions. He manages BLD's business and technology operations, and oversees the management of the company's off-site review facilities. George is also a co-founder of BarGraders, an online platform that prepares examinees to pass the California Bar Exam. Previously, George was CTO of Zoomedia, an internet communications company that services the world's largest life sciences companies. He managed the IT and engineering team and oversaw the company's project management, engineering, strategic and technical consulting, and R&D. George directed product development efforts including a website content management system and a website traffic analysis suite, and was responsible for the deployment of new technologies. Education: B.A., USC (Honors).



Bruce Paul
The Nielsen Company

Advisor


Bruce Paul heads up a global research division of The Nielsen Company, where he assists some of the world’s largest and most successful companies to understand their consumers and markets. He was worked with private, governmental and NGO institutions in a number of fields including IT, Finance, Automotive, and Consumer Packaged Goods.

Bruce is particularly interested in the study of happiness and has lead major global projects to determine the key drivers for different nations and cultures around the world (ranging from environmental conditions, access to recreation, physical and mental health, personal relationships, income, etc.). It is his hope that the important drivers of what makes people truly happy will have greater influence on political, organizational and business decision-making both locally and globally.

Bruce has degrees in Political Economy, Asian Studies and Cantonese from the University of California at Berkeley, the Yale Center at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and is a former Fulbright Scholar. He travels extensively and speaks Spanish, English, Cantonese, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese. He lives in Northern California with his wife and two children.
